Today, I was checking the IRS web-site and learned that in order to receive the Econonic Stimulus Payment, you must file a tax return for 2007, even though you would not normally be required to file one. (1040A) I got to checking and found two elderly relatives that live basically on Social Security and are not required to file a return. I contacted them and they were unaware of the requirement. I am helping them get the 1040A filed.
If you have relatives, neighbors or others that may fall into this category, please consider helping them qualify.
This requirement applies to veterans and others who receive pensions, but do not have to file a tax return
