just put a new controller and 8 new Berus in my 88 7.3. 20 degrees out two weeks ago. GP's came on for 13 seconds, cranked over about 1/2 second and at most and fired right up. I don't remember it ever starting that good when it was new 20 years ago, although it may have.... I think over time thngs slowly get worse, and since it is not a total failure, we don't chase it down.
I previously used some 12 volt volvo plugs in mine with a manual controller, just I never new how long I should leave them on. I checked the resistance of them last night, and they were about 1 ohm, which means 12 watts, not nearly hot enough.
