you are sure right about that gas smell. changed a fuel shut-off valve on ford 801 today & was amazed @ the smell, and tractor had not set that long. I repaired the engine on a IH 1900 truck once that had twin saddle tanks full of old fuel, we thought we could drain some & mix with new, won't even run on it. congrats on your tractor-i'm happy for you & your son.
