Why does the page expire when using search??

Say I search the archives and hit the back button. It says page expired, I have to go back to the home page and start over. Same things if I look at the photo ads for a certain state. I can see all the listings, but when I open one up to see the photo and details, then try to hit the back button, it says page expired.
Sorry if this has been explained thousands of times before, hopefully I`m just missing something.... Thanks
