d'oh! I'm an idiot. turns out I was looking at the plate&plug with the O-ring on it. Now I'm puzzled about something else. As best as I can see, the thing seems to be about 18 1/2 degrees ahead of TDC. Isn't that a little fast? I mean, tractor starts okay most of the time and NEVER EVER smokes at all, but I think we might be out of time just a pinch.
