The best time is when the plants are active and growing which is usually the spring time. There is some evidence that fall spraying can be sucessfully done also. However if you spray them out now, the grass will usually start to fill in the bare spots. Follow the label instructions. A small 3 pt boom sprayer works well for large open areas but a spray wand on a one galllon tank or a baxckpack sprayer work well in areas that have a lot of trees or shrubs. ATV tank sprayers are another option if you have an ATV to mount one on.
