Brake fluid

I am doing a rear brake job on my 54 Chevy 1 1/2 ton truck. All the wheel cylinders (4) were rusted and leaking. If I change to silicone fluid will this stop this rusting problem in the future. Has any one changed from Dot 3 to silicone fluid? If I don't get all the Dot 3 fluid out will the silicone mix with it? Stan
