I changed dads 1981 F350 over to silicone fluid a long time ago.I did a 1983 Chevy too. No problems. Some brake work was done ,but not all. I just bleed until the new fluid came out clean. It was easy to spot as it is purple when new. I think my bottle says it will mix. I buy mine from Meuskegon ( sp? ) brake out of Michigan. I can get a gallon for about what the locals want for a quart. They also deal with Corvette parts. Try a google and see if you can find them. I think my bottle has a phone number I can get later on.
