Stumpalump is correct. To get any good out of silicone you would need to flush the entire system with denatured alcohol to get out any Dot 3 stuff, while praying it doesn't affect any rubber elements. Best plan is to replace everything and use silicone, which will eliminate rusting. Alternative is to put in new Dot 3 every couple of years and fully bleed thru the system. Easy to see the new fluid when it starts coming out the wheel cylinder bleed screws.
