It really doesn't have anything to do with being lazy. The Allison automatic trans is the sweetist thing ever put behind a gas or diesel GM truck. It is bulletproof. It also has some neat features which inhance the torque curve of the diesel and also has some downshift/braking features. I've been in the industry for over 30yrs. and I can tell you there are a lot more failure problems with clutches, syncros, twisted shafts due to driver error and shock loading etc. than I ever saw with any Allison. If you need something to rationalize your decision to either bash GM or buy a Dodge, fine and good, but the facts are you cannot beat an Allison trans. Good luck.
