I'm not just sure how your tractor motor is set up, but on my Deere 310A diesel I routed the top outlet of the heater into the plugged pipe port in the side of the head, and the outlet drain of the block into the inlet of the heater. I plug it in and go for coffee (1/2 hour or so) and the engine cracks right off in the coldest weather.
