I am installing a KATS Tank keater on my John Deere 2840 but do not have the installation directions. My question is should the hot water flow be towards the thermostat or away from it. I"m think that it should be towards so that when the T-stat opens hot water will flow through the block. But, was also concerned that the hot water is on the top of the t-stat not against the spring that opens the t-stat.

I'm not just sure how your tractor motor is set up, but on my Deere 310A diesel I routed the top outlet of the heater into the plugged pipe port in the side of the head, and the outlet drain of the block into the inlet of the heater. I plug it in and go for coffee (1/2 hour or so) and the engine cracks right off in the coldest weather.
Your results may vary.

I have mine plumbed the oppisite way. The hot AF flows from the heater to the block drain. The return line is teed in at the temp sending unit. That way the thermostate dosent open and I am heating the block only. The block warms quicker since I am not heating all the AF in the rad.
