If the genny hasn't been reworked it will not be able to keep a 12 volt battery charged up. Some how 7 volts just isn't enough to charge up 12 volt batterys. So you either have to have the genny worked on to put out the 12-14 volts needed or put a 6 volt battery back in or switch it over to an alternator
