My freind had a 62 Galaxy.He kept the same pistons after checking compression.So no lower end job.We put in an Isky cam and some headers I bought for my 59 T-bird but never used.We never took the engine out of the car.We did pull the heads and relapped the valves[no valve equipment]and put on new seals.The car ran quite strong.This was around 1986 and I have no idea which Isky cam we used.Anyway if you dont have to do the lower end you save alot of cash.390 is an FE series Ford motor and there is a good book on them called How to Rebuild Your BIG BLOCK FORD.My T-bird had a 352 cubic inch Big block with 390 heads and aluminum Ford intake manifold,stock Holley carb.There is alot of FE series speed parts at car swap meets also.Good luck with your motor keep some info posted.
