Aren't too many people that do the hiring that won't tell you what you want to hear to get you hired. Generally speaking, they aren't the ones that will be working with you in the field.

You won't have any trouble getting into the plumbing or even pipefitting trades in Iowa at this point. Alot of work at the time. I think your biggest decision will be to go either union or non-union. Give that some consideration before jumping in. Whatever you decide, you'll start out digging holes, cutting pipe, and putting up hangers for other people before you get to have a little fun yourself.
