Shop security seems to be one of the concerns often raised on this forum. The most popular defenses seems to be to secure the premises to keep the bad guys out or put up cameras etc. Another way is to understand the concerns of the bad guy. He most fears getting caught. I've installed quite inexpensive, very bright disco type, battery backed-up, lighting both inside and outside of buildings. This coupled with ear splitting sirens at the points where the bad guy is likely to enter is very effective. A solar charger can power the system. 'Harden' the wiring and devices so they can not easily be defeated. Tell NO ONE about the system's workings. Be sure to install a timer to shut the system off after a period of time should it inadvertently activate. This also keeps the suits with briefcases out of the picture especially if warning signs are posted.
