If you can squirt some gas into the throat of the carb (like you were priming it), give that a try; if it fires up, and then falters, squirt more in to see if it takes off again. If so, it"s just not getting gas. (This works best with two people, and BE CAREFUL!!-use a little oil squirt can for the gas to avoid setting anyone on fire if it coughs back thru the carb...

After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet).
