Looks like a filter to me! May want to upgrade to something easier to service with a spin on filter. You just had to go and get a F10 didn"t ya. I like those old loaders myself as I spent many a season bucking hay both loose and bales with one. Started out on a H"(underpowered) then a MH44D and then on to a MTA Diesel which was the best setup. Dad upgraded to 5/8" cable and pulleys. This was the old style with the vertical cylider on the rear. We used a Gresen spool valve the I liked better than the rotary Farmhand control.
Dad traded the MTA and loader on a Allis 170XT w/F10 loader. He still says that was one of his major mistakes.Now he has a 3020D PS and F10 he likes.
