Hi Guys,

I'm trying to gather up enough parts and pieces to strap an old F-10 Farmhand loader on my gas guzzlin' Hydro 70 tractor. This will insure that the tractor remains parked most of the time. :>)

Anyway, this morning I'm scrongin' around and tripped across another "deal". I needed the push-off/grapple control valve and ended up just buying another used loader for about the same money.

But, what is this round gizmo? Is that some kind of a hydraulic filter or something?

Thanks,

Allan

If its an accumulator then it should have a small fitting where it could be recharged with nitrogen gas.I would suspect from its looks that is a hydraulic oil filter of sorts.

I've seen them before. I assume it was made by Farmhand.

Looks like a filter to me! May want to upgrade to something easier to service with a spin on filter. You just had to go and get a F10 didn"t ya. I like those old loaders myself as I spent many a season bucking hay both loose and bales with one. Started out on a H"(underpowered) then a MH44D and then on to a MTA Diesel which was the best setup. Dad upgraded to 5/8" cable and pulleys. This was the old style with the vertical cylider on the rear. We used a Gresen spool valve the I liked better than the rotary Farmhand control.
Dad traded the MTA and loader on a Allis 170XT w/F10 loader. He still says that was one of his major mistakes. Now he has a 3020D PS and F10 he likes.

Hi Allan, It could be an accumalator like John Deere put on their hyd trip plow to keep a constant pressure on the hyd. system

It looks like some type of return filter to me. Is it on the return side? That is how it looks from the picture. Maybe time to take it apart and see whats on the inside :D.

It's about got to be a filter.

It is on the supply side in between the tank and the pump. The top of the canister has an o-ringed, spin-on lid much like a Powerstroke fuel filter.

Looks like it takes one of those drop in filters.
