Well, I know for a fact its not an "old wives tale" in at least one instance- with my old wife! Guy was coming to look at a horse so he could trail ride with his daughter on visitation days. Drove up in a black Cad Escalade, with sticker still in the window. As the Mrs. went out to greet him, she said, "I sense a full price sale". He tried (not very hard) to bargain, but ended up paying full price. Course, it was hard for him to hide- He owns an appliance store in Seattle that advertises on TV constantly, and the place is named after him, and we made the connection pretty early in the negotiations. When he came to pick up the horse, had a new pickup and new trailer, which we estimated at 70 grand combined. Guess old Dobbin is on easy street at this point. But I do agree you'll do better looking less prosperous- if for no other reason than your seller won't hate you as much.
