Thanks for the opinions. The skunk was brought out with success. We piled two square bales next to the the can in a V shape, tied a long rope to the handle, pulled the can over at a 45 degree angle on the bales, and the skunk trotted out and outside he went. As luck would have it, he did manage to go in the only place I couldn't get a safe shot at him, so his life was spared tonight. I'm still hunting that rascal though, and no cat food will be left in the barn until I get him.
