I went to the Living History and Antique Equipment Show in my hometown, Franklin Grove, IL today. I walked around for an hour and then sat down and shot the bull with some old gents for about an hour and a half. After that, I found an official and asked if I could volunteer anywhere, because I knew this club was hurting for young folks. Well, 10 minutes later I was up on top of a rack pitching wheat bundles into a threshing machine powered by a steam engine! It was hot, dirty, noisy, and I loved it! I plan on going back tomorrow morning and helping again. The site's only 2 or 3 miles from my house. I also plan on attending the Sycamore Power Show in Sycamore, IL, and the Heritage Days in Rochelle.
