dab, Sometimes even new or good things go bad but my first questions would be if the tractors 12 volts ???????????????????? And if so, is the coil a 6 volt coil or a 12 volt coil thats labeled "12 volts for use with an external ballast resistor" cuz if its a 12 volt tractor and its either of the 2 coils above, it probably overheated. A 12 volt tractor requires either a true full 12 volt rated internally ballasted coil but if its a 6 volt coil or one labeled "12 volts requires external ballast" THEN IT NEEDS THE EXTERNAL SERIES VOLTAGE DROPPING (12 to 6) BALLST RESISTOR OR SHE OVERHEATS plus the points burn up prematurely.
