Coil

A friend of mine put a new coil on a tractor he just got. Don't know if it is wired correct or not for I have not seen it but he got it to run. Been runing it for about 2 weeks now and was chopping the other day come in for lunch, went back out and tractor wouldn't start. He started looking and the coil had blown up. Blew the guts out of it and all over. Any idea's what might have caused this.
