If small size is important I agree with the others about the N series. They are limited in their enemities but other more modern utilties will easily run over the $2000 mark. As a hobby or odd job tractor they fit the bill. The Cub is a good little tractor but its quite limited in its abilities (only 10-12hp or so) and its impliments are Cub specific. If you had the room a 300, 350, 400, 450 IH makes a great tractor with live PTO and live hydraulics and good power. They can be had for the same prices as a N but are "full sized" row crops.
