I ordered a Tread Saver ball joint from Advance Auto parts. What I got was a OE BRAND joint made in China that was subsituted for the USA made Tread Saver. The machining was not done right so it would not seat. Couldn't seem to install the cotter key in the lower joint. Didn't realize what was going on until I tightened the top joint and the top joint was pulled from its seat. Also the shank is much thinner at the seal area and the grip ring that came with it was for a smaller joint. I heard that there was a fire at the factory that makes the Tread Saver. Tread Saver is owened by Federal mogul. Maybe these should be recalled.
