Thats what I'm doing right now in the blueberries. If it gets to the freeze number, I turn on the water. I dont know where in oregon you are that it frosted lastnight, but here in hillsboro it did'nt quite make it. One thing to consider is to not use too small a nozzle in your sprinklers and to not use too high of pressure. The finer the mist, the easier it is to freeze in the air. I use a fairly big nozzle and lower pressure to keep the droplet size big enough not to freeze. The warmth of the water going around in the air will help a bunch.
