Never tried this before

It"s just time for a good frost, because my plum trees are in full bloom (young trees and never got any plums yet). Yesterday it cleared off, so I knew the frost was on it"s way last night. I set up a sprinkler to start at midnight and run till 6 AM. Sure enough this morning there was ice on the fence, so I went out and turned the water on manually and will run it until about 9 or 10. I"ve ran water on the garden and that stuff for frost protection, but never fruit trees. Does anyone know if this will work or not? Dan
