I had a early '60's 4 cyl 4000 that had no pump. I thought I was clever and went to a junk yard and obtained an automotive pump from a Ford Pinto.

Got it working, but after I did I noticed that you had to turn the wheel slowly to give the pump time to move 2 cylinders.....whereas the Pinto only had 1; and the tractor ran at half the speed of the Pinto. So if you after market, watch your volume.

I could have put a smaller pulley on it to get it to run faster, but that was more than I wanted to do being it was a power steering pump and not a standard pulley setup......never had a pulley off and didn't know how to nor what I'd be getting into. I know, I could look in a motors manual to figure it out but I didn't have the tractor much longer.
