2020 John Deere

A friend of mine has a 2020 rowcrop with wide front, good tires, and new paint he wants to sell. Here's the situation: It was restored, then overheated and the head was cracked. He replaced that, but broke something inside the rear end and now the pto is stuck in gear. The local JD dealer quoted $3500-$5000 to fix it correctly. He wants to sell it, but doesn't give a price. He wants me to make an offer. What is a fair price to offer him? I was thinking $3500. What do you guys think?
