I was reading awhile back on how you said to hook up the one post alternator and I tried it on my diesel tractor and it didn't work or I don't think it did,the alternator got hot and when I hooked the wire from the #2 post to the battery post on the alternator it was clicking on the inside and the wire from the #1 post I ran to the switch to the post that is on only when the key is on and hooked a light bulb in line and the light would stay on when the tractor was running. What have I done wrong or is this one of those so called self exciting alternators. Thanks
