Got any tricks to rebuilding Hyd cylinders???

Was tring to rebuild a hyd cylinder today and tore one of the seals, new kit an all. So any of you guys have any good tricks on how to get the power shaft in to the end piece of the cylinder with out messing up another seal. It has 2 seals one inner and one outer I ripped up the outer one but didn't hurt the inner one. So lets here so good tricks. I'll be ordering another kit tomorrow and don't want to mess up next time. Thanks.
By the way this is on a 371 bobcat and its the bucket cylinder.
