4010 D no power

I recently purchased a 4010 D. About two weeks ago suddenly the tractor lost power, would stay running for 1 or 2 minutes then lose power. I changed the fuel filter, bled the fuel system with no help. I was then told to open the fuel return line off the injector pump with immediate return of power. Now my problem is inorder stay running with enough power to do anything I must leave the return line open which of course makes a huge mess. What do I need to do?
