I have driven a commercial truck for almost 20 yrs. Usually rental trucks arn't considered commercial vehicles and they normaly don't go through the scales. I'm sure someone will differ, I would probably go on by and if I got stopped would play dumb, which I seem to have a knack for anyway. Especially if you don't have a CDL. You could convince them you don't know any better.
