Thank for all of the input folks. A little more research has showed me the light. I have a friend whos family owns the local Chevy and Toyota dealership and we had a conversation the other day. You can still special order 1/2 ton Chevys with a manual floor shifter and manual linkage to the front dif and t-case. It isn't something they publically want to be known, but you can still get it. As for the Toyota Tacomas, the verdict is still out. My friend is going to ask the dealerships "Tranny Guy" as soon as he gets back from deer hunting the first of next week. This "Tranny Guy" will know exactly how it works, cause he has specialized in Chevy and Toyota tranny and t-case's for 35 years now. I don't know if any of the other manufactures would have these options, but if someone does, let me know.
