TA is a Torque Amplifier. Never seen the insides of one but I think it's a planetary gearset that is in-line with the transmission, and when you engage the TA lever it is kind of like shifting down about half a gear, without using the clutch. Basically increases the torque available at the rear wheels. Real handy for when you hit a tough spot in the ground when plowing or disking.
