If my take is correct on electric fuel pumps used with fuel injection, they pump at full capacity whenever the engine is running. They pump just as much fuel at idle as at full speed. What is not used is bypassed back to the tank. If this is correct you can expect that it is not just the total miles that wears out the pump but all of the hours it has pumped.
