Recommended paint for battery tray?

Howdy, y'all.
I'm working at putting a Feruson TO-30 back to work, and one of the problems I've found is corrosion on the battery tray and brackets. Looks like it has gotten some acid on it, so it has a pretty thick layer of salts and rust. What should I do to better preserve that tray? I'm not restoring this tractor, just rebuilding it as a working tractor. Is there anything I can use to seal that tray without doing a lot of work to clean it up? I'd like to pull it out and wire brush it, but I'm honestly not sure I can get it out without destroying it.
