I've seen a couple tractors quit in the middle of a parade from running out of gas(!). Also a several conk out due to fouled plugs, after sudden cloud bursts resulted in their magnetos going away, etc. It's somewhat embarassing for the the owners. Also entertaining for the crowd - especially if they know the operator! I witnessed a scarey one however involving a nicely done Ford 8N V8 conversion that caught fire during a parade. The tractor became fully involved in a matter of seconds and was destroyed. Fortunately no one was injured. As a result of the above experiences I now carry a tow strap and a 10# BC-rated extinguishers aboard each of my tractors at parades, etc. Have used the tow strap a couple times to "rescue" embarrassed friends. But I hope I will never need to use the extinguishers.
