Tractor Mishaps in Parades

I've been working on on older-restoration Case CC. A few weeks ago, I drove it out of the garage and parked it. A few hours later, there was a loud BOOM that shook the house. It turned out that the bead on one of the old rear tires split. The tube must have protruded through, and the rim dropped and popped it. Even though it forced me to finally replace the tire, I was thankful that the tire didn't wait to blow during a parade. I've heard of tires blowing and even rotted rims collapsing during parades. In May, I went to a parade and a man had a nice old Allis Chalmers that ran like a top. As soon as he got onto the parade route, his tractor stalled, and there he was unable to move. The other entries had to weave around him. The man didn't know why he stalled. Someone figured out that the problem was a small cotter pin on the throttle/carb linkage that had fallen off and disappeared. Someone had to run off to get another pin or piece of wire, and eventually he got running again, but not until the parade was over. I haven't seen many parade breakdowns in front of crowds at the worst time, but I'm sure some people have some stories to tell.
