The 1500HD has a 8600lb GVW rating,the 2500HD has a 9200lbs GVW. The 2500HD also has the larger 14 bolt full floating rear axle,and it sets a little higher than the 1500HD. I work at a GM shop and just bought a new 2500HD crew cab short bed 4x4,they are really good trucks. By the way you won't find any fuel ratings on trucks in this size range. Good Luck!!
