Used Tractor Buying

What would make a good small tractor in the $3000. range. Would really like a 4X4 3 point hitch PTO compact tractor (16 to 28HP) with loader but they all seem to go for a lot more than that or someone gets to them before I do. Need a wide front end would use the tractor for our small garden, firewood, snow plowing/blowing, and loader work for leveling dirt and stones and other many projects. Where is a good place to find deals on tractors? What makes and models make a good used tractor? Had a Farmall 460 but was too big for our 5 acres, plus we have a lot of boulders and hills in the woods to get around. Thanks for any advise,
