Locusts are singing, frost is coming

Well, Locusts started singing yesterday, From what the old timers around say, should be about 45 days until the frost (if I am remembering the right number). Puts first freeze around September 19th. Also been told if you see a lot of coyotes hunting on one day in winter, storm's coming. That one seems real accurate to me, before a snow, always see several coyotes out in the fields. Anyway, anybody else know any of those little clues that seem to be pretty accurate?
