If the governor damper ring in the injection pump (soft plastic) has hardened and broken up, pieces will clog the injection pump's return fitting, causing the pump to shut down. Remove the return fitting from the top cover of the injection pump, and check for brown or black pieces of plastic stuck inside, ahead of it's glass checkball. Other restrictions to the return line will cause similar problems.
