Which tractor is it? Model #. Many tractors have a replaceable shaft or a shaft you can pull out, turn around, & put in the other way to change the pto rpm. That of course is by far the best way to do this. Ruinning your tractor at 1/2 throttle will also do it, but as you found out, that is not a very good option, too much temptation to rev it up... Some balers may have an option of turning the gar case around, or different gearsets or shafts to change from one speed to the other. but it sounds like you have a small square baler so likely not. A person can set up a reducing tranmsfer case, but it is in the way, messes up turning angles, and costs too much. For sure, if JD has an option for your tractor with a different shaft, do that. --->Paul
