You don't say who left the note. If it's an anonymous note, ignore it. If it's from a private individual or homeowners' association, I'd still ignore it. Now if the police or code enforcement left it, that's another matter. Have them show you the ordinance that you're supposedly violating. If they can't come up with a solid violation, then you can read them the riot act. Be careful about who you pick a fight with and over what. The cops and code enforcement cops can make your life quite miserable should they decide to do so.
