It's never easy to lose those people who were/are so close to you. Especially when you get older and have a lot of memories and those people lost talked to you. My Dad and Mother died within 3 months of each other, and while I dear loved them both, it was time for them. I had time to say goodbye, but with other friends of my generation, I didn't.
But I summon the good memories and remember the times they were happy. It eased the loss for me somewhat.
I hope you and yours can find some comfort in their memory.
