I"m sorry to learn of your mothers death, especially so near to Mothers Day. I remember how difficult it was to sit through church service on Mothers Day the year after my mom died. The generation you speak of did indeed have good pioneer stock that was quite hardy. They had the core values and as you mentioned showed it with their war efforts. How many today would be willing to ration gasoline and tires, or coffee and sugar? I hope you find great comfort in your memories. Take care.
