I had a 75 IHC with a 404 CID engine like that once.(Glad it finally went south) It would just decide to quit in the most inconvenient places.Hired help refused to drive it. Electronic control unit, I though. Kept a new one on hand and changed it out by the side of the road more than once. Sometimes, all it took was to let it set for a while and then it would be good to go again. Finally died in town. Nothing I did would get it to fire again. Found the problem to be the distributor. One week later, I found a replacement distributor(NAPA) in California and it was the last one in the world, I think considering the price. $400 or something like that.
