John, I received excellent results with obtaining my DD214 four years ago from the National Personnel Records Center, St. Louis, MO. The web site is http://www.nara.gov/regional/stlouis.html. It advises you how to proceed with a record search. As others have stated you must send a SF180 form by mail or fax. I received a copy of my DD214 within 6 weeks. I had several phone conversations with Harold T. Clements, Archives Technician who did exceptional work considering a fire had destroyed 16-18 million records in 1973 of Army and USAF records.I would recommend calling them at the listed number on the web site to get started and discuss your situation. After all of my efforts I found my DD 214. I wish you Good Luck in your search. LuVerne Wallace.
